Natural8 Poker's APT Taipei satellites continue until September 22 for the Main Event and APT National Cup

The Asian Poker Tour’s next festival is the APT Taipei Poker Classic, which runs from 27th September until 7th October in Taiwan. This is the second Taipei event for the tour in 2024, after the highly successful record breaking event which took place in March.

The first event of the year had a record 13,153 entries, generating combined prizepools of just under $13m. It also had high profile winners, such as GGPoker ambassador Bertrand ‘Elky’ Grospellier, who won the Superstar Challenge event, while Isaac Haxton took down the Super High Roller for the largest first prize ever awarded in Taiwanese live poker, just over TW$9m (approximately USD$288k)

Satellites have been running at online poker site Natural8 since mid July and have been performing so well that the site has upped the number of seats guaranteed for qualification to both the APT National Cup and the $2m guaranteed Main Event (TW$ 65,000,000).

Players who qualify for the TW$ 50,000 buy-in (approximately $1,534) Main Event at Natural8 are also in line to receive a $50,000 bonus from the site, if they should go on to win it. This applies to players who win their seats in satellites, play an OnLive Day 1 or simply purchase their ticket to the main event via online buy-in.

Mega Satellites to the Main Event

Satellites to the APT Taipei Poker Classic $2m guaranteed Main Event have been running since mid July and there are still three more Sundays with two satellites on each, guaranteeing another 42 seats into the Main Event.

Satellites are available at two buy-in levels, $30 and $200. The $30 satellites initially had two seats guaranteed, but this has been doubled to four. The $200 satellites now have ten seats guaranteed, having previously been set at eight.

In total at least 120 players will qualify for the APT Taipei Poker Classic Main Event via Natural8 satellites

The remaining satellites are all for seat only, as full package qualifiers have now been completed. Players who qualify need to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements.

Satellite format is target stack, meaning that players have to accumulate a specific number of chips and when they reach that target, they are automatically awarded a seat, rather than having to play until the conclusion of the satellite.

Players can choose which starting day they would like to play and also have the option to exchange the live sat they have won for a ticket into an OnLive Day 1.

Feeder satellites for $3 and $20 are also running throughout the week leading up to Sunday’s satellite qualifiers, offering a chance for players with smaller bankrolls to win their way into the event. The feeder satellite schedule is shown in the table below.

OnLive Day 1s for the Main Event

For those who don’t have as much time to spare to travel to the event, Natural8 is also running OnLive Day 1s for the APT Taipei Poker Classic Main Event.

OnLive Day 1s on Natural 8 offer a way to start the Main Event from the comfort of your own home, or the local coffeeshop, or the beach even.

There are several of these, costing $1,534, the same as the live day 1s to enter and players who make it to the end of the day will skip Day 2 altogether and progress directly to Day 3. They will skip the bubble and be guaranteed a payout, as they will already be in the money by that stage of the tournament.

Mega Satellites to the APT National Cup

APT National Cup Satellites at Natural8 Poker

The main event is not the only tournament that is being supported by online satellites, the lower buy-in TW$ 10,000 (approximately $307) APT National Cup also has an extensive online qualification schedule. The event takes place at the beginning of the live festival, with three live day 1s starting on September 27th, 2024.

Satellites also take place on Sundays, starting at 9pm (Hong Kong Time) costing $40 to enter, with multiple seats guaranteed. In total 145 seats to the APT National Cup have been guaranteed and just like the Main Event satellites, guarantees were increased after a successful start to the qualification period.

Each of the remaining satellites has 15 x $307 seats guaranteed. There are also $4 feeders running throughout the week for players to secure their Sunday satellite seat for less than the usual $40 buy-in.
