Poker legend Phil Ivey has 11 World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets. But it wasn’t the easiest ride for the pro on his way to greatness. In this article, we’ll take a look at all of Phil Ivey’s WSOP bracelets.
Every poker player has a defining moment that shapes their future, and for Phil Ivey, that pivotal experience occurred while he was at a salon with his grandfather.
In one of the few posts shared on his Instagram, Ivey reflects fondly on the time he learned to play poker, a story that resonates with many fans, despite other narratives circulating in the poker community.
Ivey is widely regarded as a poker maestro, with few players achieving records that surpass his accomplishments in the World Series of Poker (WSOP).
Often hailed as one of the best players in the world, he made history as the youngest player to win 10 WSOP bracelets.
His first bracelet came in 2000 when he triumphed in the $2,500 Pot Limit Omaha event at just 23 years old. After a quiet year, Ivey returned to the WSOP in 2002 and made an impressive comeback by winning three bracelets.
Ivey’s second bracelet came from the Limit Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo event, followed by his third in the $2,000 S.H.O.E. tournament. The American pro showcased his versatility by securing a fourth bracelet in the $1,500 Seven Card Stud event.
While 2002 was a standout year for Ivey, 2003 proved to be more challenging. He finished in the top three but ultimately placed 10th in the WSOP Main Event.
Although Ivey cashed in both the 2003 and 2004 WSOP events, he did not win any bracelets during those years. In 2005, Ivey was recognised as Bluff Magazine’s Player of the Year and clinched his fifth bracelet in the $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event, taking home $635,603.
After a few years without a bracelet win, Ivey returned to form in 2009. He captured two more bracelets that year: one in the $2,500 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw and another in the $2,500 Omaha Hi/Lo / Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo event, amassing a total of $316,905.
The WPT Global ambassador’s winning streak continued as he secured his eighth WSOP bracelet in 2010 by dominating the $3,000 H.O.R.S.E. tournament.
In 2013, Ivey won his ninth bracelet after a brief hiatus, earning A$51,840 in the A$2,200 Mixed Event at WSOP Asia-Pacific. The following year marked another milestone as he clinched his 10th bracelet in the $3,000 H.O.R.S.E. event.
After a decade-long wait for his next bracelet, Ivey finally captured his 11th WSOP bracelet in Event #29: $10,000 2-7 Triple Draw Championship.
This victory elevated him past notable players like Johnny Chan and Doyle Brunson on the all-time leaderboard and placed him second only to Phil Hellmuth, who holds 17 bracelets.
Ivey's latest bracelet win not only ended a long drought but also showcased his remarkable skill within an evolving poker landscape.
