Thursday seems like a fine day to take a walk down memory lane. Today I thought of writing about the time American pro Jared Bleznick got into a war of words with poker great Phil Hellmuth.

In a hand from the World Series of Poker’s $50K Poker Player Championship event, Bleznick got into a spat with the Palo Alto resident over what moves to make at the table.

Bleznick raised 2x preflop and saw Hellmuth calling. This is where things got juicy. Bleznick started roasting the 17-time WSOP bracelet winner, who is known for his on table antics.

Hellmuth had sixes while his rival had fives. The flop dropped QK5 and Bleznick was staring at a set while Hellmuth only had a pair.

Bleznick rightly figured that Hellmuth would check the turn and the Poker Hall of Famer did just that when the turn card presented 10 of spades. Bleznick was right when he said, “I’ve seen this with Phil 40,000 times.”
The war of words got steamy as Bleznick stated that Hellmuth limped with sixes which was the hand the latter was holding.

Hellmuth looked visibly shocked as Bleznick did a soul read on his hand. The pro folded his hand and let his rival scoop the pot.

Bleznick added some salt on Hellmuth’s wound when he remarked that when they play No Limit Hold’em and get all the money, is when Hellmuth would have the best hand to win.

At this point Hellmuth was fuming with nothing to hit back with. Bleznick won the hand and ensured players on the table had ample entertainment including the commentators on the stream who laughed at Bleznick’s roast.
