WPT Global Games Events

Online poker site WPT Global has recently added a sportsbook to its product offering, so it’s no surprise that they have launched a promotion to coincide with the sporting events taking place in Paris in the summer of 2024.

The WPT Global Games promotion began on July 26th and continues until August 11th, when it will end abruptly, with no closing ceremony. No pomp, just circumstance.

While there was no opening ceremony and no bearded lady performers to kick start this promotion, the WPT Global Games is now underway at online poker site WPT Global.

Players of the site have a chance to compete in an online gaming pentathlon, competing in five different gambling disciplines (mostly poker) with a chance to win a $12,400 Passport to the 2024 WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas.

The five disciplines included in the WPT Global Games are:

WPT Global Games Leaderboards

Each of these ‘games’ has its own leaderboard and players earn points while participating in each during the promotional period. The points scored in each leaderboard are added together to create each player’s individual Global Games score.

There are prizes for the top ten players for the overall Global Games Leaderboard and also prizes for the top ten in each of the separate leaderboards for each discipline.

How to Earn Points at the WPT Global Games

MTTS - Total Number of multi-table tournaments played, with a buy-in of $5 or more

Global Spins - Total Number of spins played, with a buy-in of at least $5

PLO4/5 Cash Games - Total Number of hands played at stakes of $0.10/$0.20 or higher (only hands that get to the flop count)

Casino - Total amount wagered on slots, plus selected other games

Sportsbook - Total amount bet on wagers with odds of evens of greater, with a 1.5 bonus multiplier added to bets with odds greater than 5/2.

The best performer in each game is awarded 100 points. Second place gets 99 points, third gets 98 and so on down to 100th place and below receiving 1 point. The points earned on each leaderboard are added together for each player to produce the final WPT Global Games Leaderboard.

What do Points Make?

No, not medals. There’s no gold, silver and bronze medals, nor will there be national anthems played while the winners stand on a podium in a moment they will never forget for the rest of their lives. However, there are prizes for the top ten on each leaderboard and for the overall WPT Global Games leaderboard.

The overall winner will be heading to Las Vegas in December to take part in the $10,300 World Poker Tour World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas, where last year Daniel Sepiol took down the title and $5.28m first prize.
